It all began in the fall of 2005 with Paul having the thought of watching a few bucks grow in the back yard. One year later the Eckert family was hooked and doubled down. They expanded from three pens to over 22 breeding pens, a 60' x 120' handling facility, a state of the art fawning facility, and went from a few bucks in the back yard to housing over 350 of the finest whitetails in the country. In 2013 the Eckert family decided it was the right time to expand once again with opening up the only store that specifically sells products for raising both free range and high fenced whitetail deer. The farm was ran by Kyle Eckert, Paul's son who fell in love with the whitetail deer. He had an eye for marketing and lining up breedings and it has shown over the past several years with BR2 Whitetails winning many awards in both the typical and non typical categories. After building up their family farm Dana, Paul's wife and Kyle's mother, realized something was wrong and did not feel right. So she started going to the doctors trying to figure out what was going on with her. After running several tests the doctors could not figure it out and asked her what she was around every day that could be causing her to have an allergic reaction, and she quickly replied " whitetail deer, we have a lot of them". They ran some tests and found out that Dana was highly allergic to the deer and the doctors response was you need to get away from the deer. Over the next few years the family continued to run the farm in the same way but just being cautious of bringing deer dander into the house. As time went on they realized their was just to many deer around the house. On June 12 of 2018 Kyle and his wife Jaclyn had their first child named Maverick and the family was extremely excited about the birth of their first son and grandson. That fall Paul came to Kyle and told him he had to get his mother away from the deer and Kyle told Paul that he was ready to step up and buy the farm. So January 1, 2019 BR2 Whitetail Sales and Service switched ownership and is now owned by Kyle and Jaclyn Eckert. Although the farm has switched ownership we will still be seeing Paul and Dana involved in the whitetail industry. Dana is the secretary for BR2 Whitetail Sales and Service and she is the one you will likely see walking into the farm store. Paul owns Ultimate Whitetails LLc a Michigan hunting ranch located 22 miles away from the farm. You will also more then likely see Paul helping cut antlers and tagging fawns as those were his two favorite times of the year. Kyle and Jaclyn are excited about their business venture as owners of the company and are excited to still be able to share it with both Paul and Dana.

OWNER - FAWN CARE

Kyle has always had a creative eye so when he started to push the marketing for BR2 Whitetails it was no suprise to see his marketing campaign take off. Over the years he has elevated BR2 Whitetails to a level none of them thought was possible and turned it into a business that was profitable. When talking to people about Kyle and BR2 Whitetails there was one thing that stood out, even though Kyle had so much on his plate he was still willing to drop everything to help a fellow farmer in need. It could of been for marketing, animal health, new construction or creating a business plan, it did not matter what the call was about it, he would always take it and give them his best effort to handle the situation. It did not matter if you had ever bought deer from BR2 Whitetails or not, he treated everyone the same way. Kyle has always said they measure the success of their breeding operation by the succes of their customers breeding programs and without that to show for they have done nothing for the industry. This has held true through their whole deer farming career and is what has kept BR2 Whitetails amongst the top of the deer breeders in the state. They have watched customers also win typical and non typical awards at the national level validating what they have lived by for so long. Since taking over as the owner of BR2 Whitetails nothing has changed. You still will see the lights on at the office until 3 a.m. building ads for fellow deer farmers and the United Deer Farmers of Michigan organization. Kyle's all in attitude is what drove him to purchase BR2 Whitetails from his parents Paul and Dana Eckert when the opportunity came. Although Kyle is still very young he is a true role model in the whitetail industry.

HOW THE FARM GOT TO WHERE IT IS TODAY

KYLE, JACLYN, MAVERICK RECIEVING AN AWARD - 2019

Kyle Eckert was born February 15, 1991, and graduated Gaylord Highschool in 2009. He attended Michigan State University studying animal science. After just 1 year of college realized he did not want to be in a calss room, instead he wanted to be on the farm learning with his hands. He developed a passion for whitetail deer while helping his father build BR2 Whitetails, one of the largest deer farms in the state of Michigan. Shortly after leaving college Kyle put his focus on Ultimate Whitetails LLC, Pauls hunting ranch located in Johannesburgh Michigan. Kyle and his two cousins Luke and Wilby completed the the fence perimeter and built the new hunting lodge with a local builder. After the ranch was complete Kyle managed the new hunting ranch for Paul which he continues to stil do to this day. Kyle's Grandpa Merle was the one caretaking the farm while Kyle was away building the ranch and he suffered some health issues that took him away from the farm. With his grandpa not being able to be at the farm Kyle stepped up and continued to manage both places. As time went on Paul's Plumbing and Heating Business continued to grow and he had less time to help out on the farm so he had to lean on Kyle for more. Kyle started planning breedings, taking over all the sales and was the one developing marketing strategies to take the business to the next level.
